Guiding Students to Their Full Potential
About Me
With a background in physics and mathematics, including a PhD in Astrophysics, I bring a deep understanding of the subjects I teach. I spent over 15 years working as an astrophysics researcher; a career that sharpened my analytical skills and strengthened my passion for problem‑solving. I now work as a data analyst in the civil service, where I continue to apply these skills every day.
Tutoring Experience
I’ve been tutoring for many years, supporting students of all abilities and helping many achieve top grades in GCSE and A‑level Maths and Physics. Over the years, I’ve helped many learners secure top grades and, just as importantly, develop confidence in their own abilities.
Tutoring remains one of the most rewarding parts of my week and is something I genuinely love! It's incredibly rewarding to watch students grow, overcome challenges, and realise what they’re capable of.
My tutoring approach centres on developing a deep, intuitive understanding of Maths and Physics while building the confidence students need to reach their full potential. I emphasise consistent practice and encourage high expectations, helping students work steadily toward the grades they’re aiming for. Between lessons, I offer support through an app where students can ask questions and submit homework, ensuring that our time together is focused, efficient, and tailored to their progress.
Clear communication: I break down complex mathematical and scientific concepts into simple, manageable steps, helping students develop a genuine understanding rather than relying on memorising.
Adaptable Teaching: Every student learns differently, so I tailor my approach to their needs, strengths and learning style, ensuring lessons are both effective and engaging.
Building Confidence: Many students feel anxious or lack confidence in their abilities. I provide encouragement and structured support to help them develop self-belief and become more independent learners.
Patience and Empathy: Learning can be challenging, particularly when students have gaps in their understanding. I create a supporting environment where they feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.
Exam Preparation: I help students develop effective revision techniques, exam strategies and problem solving skills, enabling them at their best in assessments and exams.
Organisation and Goal Setting: Lessons are carefully planned with clear objectives and progress is monitored regularly to ensure students remain on track towards their academic goals
